Whakahihikotanga Motivation
Students learn the difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, and what motivates them when making decisions.
In our Whakahihikotanga | Motivation theme ākonga will explore the difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, and what motivates us – or others – when making decisions. They will discuss why people have different motivators and what challenges they might face when trying to motivate others. In the second lesson, they will look into what influences motivations around using active travel (walking or wheeling) to school and discuss ideas on what might motivate them or others.
Each lesson also has a supporting worksheet. The second lesson has templates for 'whānau surveys' and ideas and actions that could be taken in school. They can either be used as one-off activities or in sequence.
