WOW Class Challenge
This is a challenge that rewards classes (not individuals). The competition is now closed but remaining resources can be used or printed anytime of the year.
Using the wallchart in class
You can use the wallchart in class, alongside the bookmarks and stickers to set individual goals or a class challenge. This creates a visual aid for students to track – and reward – their participation against their personal goals.
Set each student’s goal and record how tamariki get to school using stickers, stamps or ticks for trips to school. Use prize packs to incentivise, and supplement with other prizes such as winning privileges or activities.
Your class can track the distance travelled by the whole class over March by estimating each student's trip distance, or challenge your class to beat their record from week to week. Observe how the weather or events may impact how ākonga travel to school.
Use Te Haerenga o ngā Tamariki and our customised learning experiences alongside the wallchart. Data can also be entered online, on the day, or using our new bulk entry function, to create relatable learning experiences.
Use the WOW wallchart to set goals and enter trips into Te Haerenga o ngā Tamarikiopen_in_new. You can use the same account as for Kura Kete. Classes can compare trips from one week to another, compete against other groups at school, or download data and use this to make graphs in Excel or Google Sheets.

Update: Mode codes and Tally cheat sheet
We've updated the form in the Wallchart guide (above) to make it easier to use. Below are two options:
- A student guide - print this out and hang it near the wallchart. Choose one of the code letter options, or make your own. Save the stickers and stamps for handing out, rather than using them on the Wallchart.
- Teacher tally sheet - use this sheet to collect "hands up" trip data each day, so you can quickly and easily enter it into Te Haerenga o ngā Tamariki for the competition. Once students have put their hand up for their mode they can go over to the wallchart to add it on the chart (in a very calm and organised way!)
