Kia ora and welcome to Kura Kete!

Greater Wellington has created easy to use learning resources for schools and educators.

We've worked with schools across our rohe (region) to understand teachers’ needs. Our education team has designed and curated a library of learning experiences to meet those needs.

Movin'March 2026 was huge!

A big thanks to all the kura, kaiako and ākonga who took part in Movin'March this year. And an even bigger shout out to those who gave us feedback in the survey. We're still processing this but we know there's a lot of thoughts about the wallcharts. Noted!

Here's a few high level results. Read more on the Movin'March home page.

Diagram of 4 green circles with text inside. This reads kura registered 137, tamariki potentially participating 34,257, number of classes entered in WoW 124 and walk or wheel trips counted 17519

Remember, you can use our resources all year round, or connect with us and our lovely Enviroschools facilitators, to support your journey into Kura Kete resources!

Fostering active and safe transport

Our aim is to promote active, healthy, and safe trips to school by:

  • Helping ākonga (students) and whānau (families) to be healthy, safe, and connected with their community.
  • Helping teachers with directly relevant and immediately useful resources that ease school gate chaos.

Vision

Greater Wellington’s vision for our region is for a thriving environment, connected communities, and a resilient future.

As part of this, we encourage whānau across the region to use active modes – walking or wheeling – especially for short or frequent trips.

Walking or wheeling to school is fun, healthy, and builds children’s independence. It’s a great way to learn road safety and helps the school community to connect with each other and their neighbourhoods.
