Movin’March is a much-loved Greater Wellington programme open to all primary schools in the rohe. In this theme, we have a wide range of topics making it easy for teachers to pick and choose what works best for their school’s kaukapa or term focus.

Climate change covers many curriculum areas, including science, social science, literacy, numeracy and te ao Māori. Even the smallest actions taken at school can contribute to global impacts on climate. Our world is full of interconnected systems so let’s look at the big picture.

In our Getting to school theme you’ll find a treasure trove of classroom activities, ways to help ākonga (students) discover the mauri of their neighbourhood, and get practical help for student-led projects that make a difference at the school gate.

Students learn how to explore te ao Māori concepts such as mauri, kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga. They discover how they can make a difference by working collectively.

Everything is connected! This theme makes school travel highly relatable for students. It connects to their everyday experiences and helps them understand the many benefits of active travel.

Students learn the difference between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, and what motivates them when making decisions.
